The first jury panel have been selected to cover a broad range of cultures and countries. The panel is truly international, and the judges have considerable expertise working in developing countries and environments which are difficult to build in. All members have considerable knowledge of architecture and engineering, with many working as practicing architects. This knowledge will ensure that all chosen entries will be judged by someone who can apply basic building principles to a design.
Their international perspective ensures they are aware of the challenges of building in Haiti, and will recognize and commend work that acknowledges these challenges, such as building in a tropical climate, ensuring buildings remain cool and dry, working in an earthquake area, making designs sustainable and working within local building practices.
